Core Responsibilities
- Prepare process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams using Aspen Plus outputs and approved engineering standards.
- Develop heat and material balance documents based on feed composition data, design cases, and simulation reports.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for pipelines and equipment using Pipenet software and verified line sizing criteria.
- Create equipment datasheets for pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers using vendor specification formats.
- Review process design basis documents, operating philosophies, and control narratives for technical completeness.
- Validate relief valve sizing calculations using Aspen HYSYS and applicable design codes.
Skills and Technical Exposure
- Aspen HYSYS simulation models for steady state and dynamic analysis.
- Aspen Plus process simulation files and convergence reports.
- Pipenet hydraulic calculation modules and result sheets.
- Process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
- Equipment datasheets and line sizing calculation documents.
- Relief valve sizing methods and design code references.
Experience Context
- Work is performed in an engineering design office supporting oil and gas processing facilities and pipeline projects.
- Projects involve large scale process units, multiple equipment packages, and high pressure hydrocarbon systems.
- Absence of this role results in incomplete design packages and unsafe equipment sizing.
