Core Responsibilities
- Inspect pipeline alignment on open terrain using survey drawings, chain measurements, and leveling instruments.
- Record trench depth, bedding condition, and pipe placement details in daily site logbooks.
- Verify jointing quality of cross country pipelines using visual gauges and joint inspection checklists.
- Monitor cathodic protection installation with handheld testers and coating thickness meters.
- Review contractor work progress against approved construction drawings and material issue records.
- Confirm restoration of excavated areas using compaction reports, soil test sheets, and site photographs.
Skills and Technical Exposure
- Pipeline alignment drawings, isometric drawings, and approved construction layouts.
- Survey instruments including dumpy level, total station, and measuring tapes.
- Pipeline jointing tools, coating inspection gauges, and cathodic protection testers.
- Daily progress reports, inspection checklists, and material reconciliation documents.
- Basic computer systems for reporting through spreadsheets and document files.
Experience Context
- Work is performed at active pipeline sites spread across rural and semi urban terrain.
- Role supports long distance pipeline stretches involving multiple kilometer segments.
- Absence of this role leads to unchecked installation errors and undocumented site conditions.
