Core Responsibilities
- Prepare microbiological media, buffers, and reagents using autoclaves, weighing balances, and pH meters.
- Perform microbial limit tests and sterility testing inside laminar airflow units using validated SOPs.
- Inoculate, incubate, and observe culture plates in BOD incubators and record colony counts in laboratory registers.
- Carry out environmental monitoring of cleanrooms using air samplers, settle plates, and contact plates.
- Handle microbial identification using staining techniques, microscopes, and biochemical test kits.
- Document raw data, observation sheets, and test results in controlled microbiology logbooks.
Skills & Technical Exposure
- Laminar airflow workstations, biosafety cabinets, and autoclaves.
- BOD incubators, colony counters, and compound microscopes.
- Environmental monitoring tools including air samplers and settle plates.
- Sterility testing methods and microbial limit testing techniques.
- Microbiology SOPs, test protocols, and laboratory registers.
Experience Context
- Work is conducted within pharmaceutical microbiology laboratories supporting finished dosage production.
- Daily workload involves multiple samples from batches, utilities, and cleanroom areas.
- Absence of timely microbiological testing can halt batch release and compromise regulatory compliance.
