Core Responsibilities
- Join carbon steel structures by handling arc welding machines, electrode holders, and grounded welding cables.
- Prepare metal surfaces using grinders, wire brushes, and alignment clamps before weld deposition.
- Inspect weld beads through visual gauges and weld inspection sheets after cooling.
- Cut steel sections with gas cutting torches and measured guide markings.
- Record weld joint numbers, material grades, and heat input values in fabrication logs.
Skills and Technical Exposure
- Manual metal arc welding machines and electrode ovens.
- Gas cutting sets and flame adjustment tools.
- Weld gauges, fillet gauges, and inspection templates.
- Fabrication drawings and joint identification records.
- Grinding machines and surface preparation tools.
Experience Context
- Work occurs inside plant fabrication zones with fixed welding bays.
- Steel structures involve multiple joints across frames and support skids.
- Without this role, metal assemblies remain incomplete and unsafe for installation.
